March-1

IN LIKE A LION? March is here! And as I write this large flakes of snow are coming down. And yet, yesterday, the first tornado siren test was conducted in preparation for tornado season! Ah, such is life in the Midwest! Soon it will be time to put boats in the water, and the lake will warm up enough for swimming.

leaf-autumnSeptember is here already. School has started and we are down to our last couple of months of good pontooning weather! We who live at the lake know the beauty of it all year round, although the beauty in the winter is so much different than in the summer.  In the spring and autum I love the fog that comes off the lake, sometimes in little wisps or columns, and if there there is a breeze they look like little angels dancing on our wonderful lake.  Sandy Adams has some beautiful photos in the calendar of the winter months at Gardner Lake. But for now, let's enjoy the last of the summer and the coming autumn!

Here comes the cold! The lake is freezing over and we are no longer wondering if it will be air conditioning or furnaces which will be blowing in our homes! Any season here at Gardner Lake is beautiful, each in it's own way. For me, watching the birds in the winter is just as amazing as watching the hummingbirds in the summer.
